Unleashing Zoom to Live 1 Cor 14 in Body Ministry?

The excuses for not letting one share a hymn, one a testimony and one a word of exhortation are disappearing. Those that dominate like Demetrius (3 John), talking too much, can simply be muted without distraction. This could be such a opportunity for the church to do #RealChurch.

Our prayers with Francis Chan at #RethinkChurchRethinkMission are beginning to be answered. Even pastors of large churches like Steven Furtick are beginning to unleash the opportunity hidden within the Covid 19 crisis, asking their online congregations to constantly interact!

What Is #RealChurch?

Sure, I know it’s simply a commercial. But I keep sharing this video anyhow, because I think really such an effective picture of how to create community by simply sharing a common meal. Isn’t it funny how so many of us claim wish desperate for community, but haven’t linked with the people right next door, or across the hall?

THE WRONG ASSUMPTION
Some people think #RealChurch is only about moving one’s house of worship experience from a building to a house. Nevertheless that’s a gross oversimplification. We don’t want a smaller version of the same thing, or a small tweak to our existing form of chapel. We didn’t quit heading to church, simply because the pastor doesn’t wear blue jeans, or make enough pop culture recommendations, or use Snapchat. Many of these things are totally ” light “. Therefore, whenever you hypothesize might be found might actually pull us returning to big field Christianity, you betray the fact that you avoid really understand Christians who are doing #RealChurch.

When it comes to church, we not only want a different expression, we want an totally different experience. We are moving completely against current culture, such as current church culture. What am i saying? Very well, let me provide an exaggerated example. Right now, almost all of us belong to several different peer groupings. For some, it might break down such as this: we have our family, our co-workers, our neighbors, our friends, our fellow house of worship members, and perhaps a few folks we understand from an exercise class, a sport, or some other activity.

The reason we find ourselves in so many different circles is because existence are multiplistic, non-holistic, not integrated at all. Sure, there’s probably some overlap; we would go to church by of our friends, or we would go to an exercise class with a few co-workers, and so on. However for the most part, these different expert groups are distinct. As a result, we constantly have to select from investing time with this group, vs . that group. That’s why we feel so crammed all the time; there is simply not enough of us to go around. It’s like continually approaching up short on short term, and trying to determine which bill doesn’t get compensated.

WHAT WE REALLY WANT
The alternative to all or any this multiplicity is simplicity: an all natural, integrated approach to life, where there’s more terme conseillé between our various groups. Like, imagine what our life might have recently been like only a few generations ago, perhaps on a farm, outside a tiny town. We might have lived and worked at home, alongside us and neighbors; these neighbors would have been our friends, whom we also found at church. Not to mention, the work might have been real labor, rather than a sedentary desk job, so it would have provided all the physical activity we need!

And there you have it: living, working, and worshipping day-to-day, alongside the same community of people, like one big extended family. Yes, that’s an overstated example. But it talks to the heart of that which we are yearning for from your church communities: a daily shared life, like the one we learn about in the book of Acts; a life where the believers “had everything in common” and achieved daily, in their own homes.

The real reason we left the prepared church wasn’t because it wasn’t cool enough for us; there simply had not been enough community for all of us. Obviously, in today’s culture, we won’t be able to get all our separate circles to terme conseillé; but we can create as much overlap as it can be: to share meals, and resources, and stories, to share because our lives as possible, until we could finally living a daily shared life with other believers. Like one big, extended spiritual family.

1 MORE THOUGHT
As being a special bonus to this post, I want to reveal something else. With regards to creating genuine church community, I actually think Christians who’ve never known church community, outside of the organized church box often make the mistake of trying to build “church” before there’s any “community” to build upon.

Because the idea of simply suspending out with others who live nearby seems “unproductive” to the institutionalized Religious mind, many believers who leave the organized chapel eventually conclude alone. That they merely wait and expect for some kind of fully-formed church community to come and find them. But We would argue that kind of siloed Religious life is even less productive than a who trust who simple hangs away and has fellowship!

Can I be a Christian and not go to Church?

May I be a Christian and not go to church? There are a quantity of reasons why a Christian would ask this question. Perhaps you think about you can skip church some Sundays because you have to work, or would like to go on a holiday, or maybe rest at home. Or even you feel lost in an audience, and would somewhat worship at home. And if you haven’t satisfied in a home church for a time, maybe you’re requesting if you are really missing whatever. Well, are you?

By simply asking if the Christian can go to church, we would be settling for a smaller definition of church. Consider these:

Your Value in the Body of Christ

1. What metaphor will the Apostle Paul use for the church in 1 Corinthians doze: 27? In line with the same passage (see also vv. 12-13), what is each who trust – including you – in relation to the Body?

installment payments on your Read through you Corinthians 12: 15-26. What is this passage declaring about the value of each part or customer of the entire body? What will this passage mean about your importance in relationship to the church?

3. Read through Romans doze: 4-5. What does this say about your relevance and belongingness, and that of others, to the Body?

The Value of the Body of Christ to You

4. Browse Ephesians 4: 1-16. What did Christ give to the Body and then for what purpose? What will you miss if you neglect out on Body life?

5. Read Hebrews twelve: 23-25. What are believers encouraged to do and why?

Jesus definitely got a greater policy for the church than being one of many options to go to on Weekends. Our Lord saw it as His Body, gratifying His Kingdom plans in this world with Him.

Christians belong to the Body of Christ, the Church. Each one is a member of computer, and each one belongs to the other. Based on this metaphor, any who trust organically belongs to the church and misses away on growth — learning, maturing in Christ, offering the Kingdom and being built up in the faith, encouraging and being encouraged, burden-bearing with others and growing in love — apart from the experience of Body Lifestyle. Christ gave spiritual presents and gifted men to the church to ensure that we all increase in its context. This kind of is why Scripture stimulates us not to give up meeting together.

In application, below are a few questions to ponder:

Are you part of a local church? If not, considering The lord’s design for the church and the great things about membership rights in your body, take steps to join a Bible-believing church today where you can grow in your hope. (In the Philippines, there almost certainly is a Victory church in your locale. Give it a look! )

Nourishing Sheep or Amusing Goats?

Charles Haddon Spurgeon is the subject of the historical introduction of View Your God: Rethinking Goodness Biblically.

Feeding Lamb or Amusing Goats?
Charles Haddon Spurgeon (1834-1892)
A great evil is in the professed camp of the Lord, so gross in its impudence, that the most shortsighted can barely fail to notice it during the past few years. It includes developed at an abnormal rate, even for evil. It includes worked well like leaven before the whole lump ferments. Satan has seldom done a cleverer thing than leaving clues to the church that part of their quest is to provide entertainment for the people, with a view to earning them.
From speaking away as the Puritans performed, the church has slowly but surely toned down her account, then winked at and excused the frivolities during. Then she tolerated them in her borders. Nowadays she has adopted them under the plea of achieving the masses.
My personal first contention is that providing amusement for the people is nowhere used of in the Scriptures as a function of the church. If it is a Christian work, why did not Christ speak of it? “Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to each creature” (Mark 16: 15). That is clear enough. Therefore it would have been if He previously added, “and provide amusement for many who do not relish the gospel. ” No such words, however, need to be found. That did not seem to be to occur to him.
On the other hand, “He gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some evangelists; and some pastors and teachers…, for the work of the ministry” (Eph. 4: 11-12). Where do entertainers come in? The Holy Soul is silent concerning them. Were the prophets persecuted because they amused those or because they rejected? The concert has no martyr roll.
Again, providing amusement is in immediate antagonism to the coaching and life of Christ and all his apostles. What was the frame of mind of the church to the world? “Ye are the salt” (Matt. 5: 13), not the glucose candy–something the earth will spit out not ingest. Short and sharp was the utterance, “Let the dead bury their dead” (Matt. 8: 22) Having been in awful passion.
Had Christ introduced more of the bright and pleasurable elements into his mission, he would have been more popular when they went back, due to searching nature of His teaching. I actually do not notice him say, “Run after these people Peter and tell them we will have a different style of service tomorrow, something short and attractive with little preaching. We will have a nice evening for the people. Let them know they will be certain to enjoy it. Be quick Philip, we must find the people somehow. ” Christ pitied sinners, sighed and wept over them, but never sought to entertain them.
In vain will the Epistles be explored to find any track of the gospel of enjoyment! Their message is, “Come out, keep out, keep clean out! ” Nearly anything approaching fooling is noticeable by its absence. They will had boundless confidence in the gospel and applied no other weapon.
Following Peter and John were locked up for speaking, the church had a prayer meeting nevertheless they do not pray, “Lord give unto thy servants that by a wise and discriminating use of blameless recreation we may show these people how happy our company is. ” If they ceased not from talking Christ, they had not time for arranging entertainments. Scattered by persecution, they went everywhere preaching the gospel. They turned the world upside down (Acts 17: 6). That is the only difference! God, clear the church of all the rot and rubbish the devil has imposed onto her, and bring us back to apostolic methods.

Francis Chan: If Everyone Knew How to Read the Bible, It Would Change Church to A More Excellent Way

How often do we not just read 1 Corithans 14, but follow it?

Pursue love, and earnestly desire the spiritual gifts, especially that you may prophesy.
Brothers, do not be children in your thinking. Be infants in evil, but in your thinking be mature. 21 In the Law it is written, “By people of strange tongues and by the lips of foreigners will I speak to this people, and even then they will not listen to me, says the Lord.” 22 Thus tongues are a sign not for believers but for unbelievers, while prophecy is a sign not for unbelievers but for believers. 23 If, therefore, the whole church comes together and all speak in tongues, and outsiders or unbelievers enter, will they not say that you are out of your minds? 24 But if all prophesy, and an unbeliever or outsider enters, he is convicted by all, he is called to account by all, 25 the secrets of his heart are disclosed, and so, falling on his face, he will worship God and declare that God is really among you.

26 What then, brothers? When you come together, each one has a hymn, a lesson, a revelation, a tongue, or an interpretation. Let all things be done for building up. 27 If any speak in a tongue, let there be only two or at most three, and each in turn, and let someone interpret. 28 But if there is no one to interpret, let each of them keep silent in church and speak to himself and to God. 29Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others weigh what is said. 30 If a revelation is made to another sitting there, let the first be silent. 31 For you can all prophesy one by one, so that all may learn and all be encouraged, 32 and the spirits of prophets are subject to prophets. 33 For God is not a God of confusion but of peace.

36 Or was it from you that the word of God came? Or are you the only ones it has reached? 37 If anyone thinks that he is a prophet, or spiritual, he should acknowledge that the things I am writing to you are a command of the Lord. 38 If anyone does not recognize this, he is not recognized. 39 So, my brothers, earnestly desire to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues. 40 But all things should be done decently and in order.

Francis Chan shares about the best gift he’s been given. He received it when he was 15 when a pastor taught him “how to read the Bible for myself.” And now, Chan shares, he’s made major, life-altering decisions with just him and the book.

Tim Mackie of The Bible Project says something similar about the best gift he’s received. A teacher taught him to see how “every book of the Bible fits together as a unified story that leads to and points to Jesus.” This teacher also taught him to read the Bible for himself and learn from it.

Chan says he’s frustrated about all the talk surrounding different speakers and the words they’ve spoken and the lack of talk surrounding what someone has learned for him or herself from the Bible. What would the church look like, Chan asks, “if everyone who showed up on a Sunday morning actually spent the whole week, everyday, alone with God?” Chan believes that would change everything.
